happy Memorial Day weekend

This year, we spent Memorial Day weekend in Abilene ...
Estee flew in to DFW Friday night to stay the night with us and then, Saturday morning we loaded up & headed West ... so we could meet & hold our precious new 10 day nephew (Kendall's newest cousin), Tucker Alan Perkins!

As soon as we pulled into town, we picked up a special treat for lunch (to-go) ... the best bar-b-q. ever. ... Harold's Bar-B-Q!  If you ever find yourself in Abilene, this is a great place to eat!  (Joe Allen's BBQ is also a famous, popular spot, and we like it too ... but Harold's is our favorite!  We even had them cater our wedding rehearsal ... that was nine years ago ... but Harold's has been around since the 1970's!)  We brought lunch over to Rachel & Michael's ... so we could see everyone!

making' a lunch pit stop at Harold's ... a must-visit in Abilene!
E loves Harold's too and had to buy some of his
famous bbq sauce to take back to Florida with her!

I'm one happy "Aunt Xis" (that's as close to Alexis as Mason
could get when he first learned my name) ... getting to see &
hold my newest nephew Tucker Alan ... nearly 2 weeks old!

sweet baby Tucker (and his little blankie
from me & E) ... not too long ago,
we used Kendall's own blankie this way
but now she loves to snuggle with it!

Mason was sooo excited to see all of us ... and Kendall was very excited when she saw Mason (and Sassy their dog, as well ... really, the feeling was mutual, as Sassy could not get enough of our sweet Kendall)!  There was lots of playin' & toy swappin' between these 2 cousins ...

Seriously, who needs toys when you've
got a comb?  This girl is teeeeeeething!

After spending the afternoon at Rachel & Michael's, we settled in at my parents' Grams & Pops ... had a family dinner and played some more ... til all 3 of the kiddos were worn-out & all the adults were too!

Pops & Grams and Auntie E ... at our family dinner

tea party ... Kendall started to "pretend drink" from her
little tea cup over the weekend

We enjoyed spending some "awake/alert time" with Tucker!

Kendall & her Pops ... quite a pair!

my cutie-patootie nephew & his beloved baseball hat!

Legos for everyone ... "Uncle Ashie"
built Mason an airplane

Mason building his "tall tower"!

Even Kendall joined the Lego fun ...
she sat herself right in the middle of all
of them and picked up a few to chew on.

Silly girl.  Crazy hair.

Sunday we went to Southern Hills (where my family still attends), had lunch all together and then the girls disbursed ... E visited a friend while MawMaw, Mom & I went shopping ... and Kendall stayed home to nap (and I think, her Daddy did a little napping of his own)!  We spent the evening over at Rae's (this was Michael's first time to fly since Tucker was born) to keep her company and play with all the kids!  Kendall had a fussy night ... waking up several times (which is very unusual for her) ... and in the morning, we found out why ... she had cut 2 top teeth!  (And you can see the other 2 top ones will be coming very, very soon as well!)

We drove back home on Monday morning ... Memorial Day ... dropped off E at the airport for her flight back to Florida ... and then enjoyed some time in the pool!  We started Kendall in her little baby pool, but then transitioned her into the pool ... us holding her, kicking her feet & then using her new little floatie for the 1st time ... and she LOVED it!  After sitting up in her floatie for a while, she decided she should relax ... and laid back & chewed on some of her toys ... she is so funny!  (These are the best pictures I got ... unfortunately, the hot pink sun shade cast some funky color onto her, so we'll have to reposition it the next time, so she's not got a red-tint to her skin coloring.)

Happy Memorial Day!
