sleeping in her crib ...

Well, it's official ... Kendall is now sleeping in her big-girl crib!

For the past 13 weeks (since we brought her home from the hospital at 8 weeks old), Kendall has been sleeping in my old bassinet next to my side of the bed in our room. I know that seems like a long time, but time just got away from us and it was just convenient for the night-time feedings, etc ... but when we finally got the okay to let her sleep through a feeding at night, it was definitely time to move her into her room ... we got that "okay" back on Sept. 1st, so it was really time to finally get her moved! We did a trial run on Thursday night ... just moved her bassinet into her room ... baby steps, here people, baby steps! Since that went so well, we used her crib for Friday's naps and then bedtime ... and we've never looked back!

Here's our cutie-patootie sleeping in her crib!
As you can see, she'd already scooted down her incline positioner ... her head should have been at the top of it ... she's a little mover!

Bitty Baby Blankies and a Bunny ...

Kendall likes to grasp items now (most of the time it's on her own, but sometimes we help her a bit) ... a rattle, our fingers, her Bitty Baby Blankie and her Bunny.

She really loves the Bitty Baby Blankies that were made by our cousins Shea and her mom, Angela. They have a business making the most AWESOME Blankies ... here is their website, in case you have any need for a blankie ... www.bittybabyblankies.com/ ... these blankies do not disappoint! Since Kendall is still so small, her blankies are still being used to cover her when she's in her car seat, etc ... it's so cute - Kendall will grab the soft blankie or one of the many textured tags. We get stopped by people everywhere we go, asking us about Kendall's cute blankies. We just can't say enough wonderful things about their blankies!

Thank you, Shea and Angela ... we LOVE your blankies!

The other item Kendall loves is her little Bunny security blanket/lovey that Carol & Christi got her ... it's so sweet, Kendall will grab the bunny's ear or arm and has been seen holding it as she's falling asleep in our arms in church. I know this Bunny will get many years of love as well! It's a good thing the Bunny and her Bitty Baby Blankies all wash through the washing machine so nicely!

Thank you, Nona and Aunt Christi ... we LOVE Bunny!

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' ...

So we had a fun weekend with Kendall (of course) and I already posted a little something about her from earlier in the weekend, but I have to follow up that post with this new one, as we have one more exciting thing (at least for us) to share from the development of Kendall that happened later in the weekend ... it's just taken me a few more days to get it posted!

Kendall finally decided that tummy time isn't so bad afterall, especially once she figured out how to ROLL OVER! We are so excited ... we've been seeing a little bit of development from her over the last several weeks (as seen in my previous post), but it seems like over the past week or two, she has really made some big progress in the development arena. It's been very encouraging.

Over the weekend, she really improved on holding her head up higher and higher during each tummy time and figured out how to put her arms under her to lift her up & support her more.

Tummy time (corrected age: 9 weeks)

These next 2 pictures were taken of her rolling over ... but I only got the before and after ... not the during!

Cute Gymboree outfit courtesy of cousin Shea (& sweet Atley) Bristo ... we have been so blessed to receive lots of cute hand-me-downs and new unused clothes from many friends and family with sweet little girls ... Rylie Odom, Lacy Leach, Gaby Gasca, Atley Bristo, and Kylie Rogers ... we are so appreciative! (Not to mention all the folks who have given us outfits and clothes as shower gifts, or a fun package to open, or Kendall's Auntie E (my sister, Estee) who is a fantastic shopper for her niece and nephew! Kendall wears a cute outfit from one of you each day!

just a little weekend fun ...

Over the last 3 weeks or so, Kendall has really been smiling, cooing, squealing with delight, and tracking us/toys with her eyes ... she LOVES getting her diaper changed (not sure if it's the clean diaper part, or her being on her diaper changing pad cause she still has her dirty diaper on at the time, but she really puts on a show during those times with the squealing and legs kicking) ...

Here are a couple of pictures & a short video of Kendall from over the weekend, playing on her butterfly mat and talking to Daddy (while I got to take a fabulous shower ... now, that's a win-win situation!) ... so here is our little cutie-patootie!

a visit from Grams and MawMaw ...

On Friday the 18th, my mom "Grams" and my grandmother "MawMaw" drove in from Abilene for a day trip to visit Kendall & I ... we had a lot of fun visiting & playing with Kendall and took a few pictures ... we had to play a little "dress-up" with Kendall, as Grams wanted to see her in her hospital coming-home outfit (which was my old coming-home outfit), now that she has filled out a bit. (Of course, I had to add the headwrap and bow ... this is 2009 you know!)

This dress definitely fits her now! It just swallowed her when she left the hospital (at 8 weeks old and 5 lbs) but now she is a little over 10 lbs at 4 1/2 months old (a corrected/adjusted age of 9 weeks old) and it fits her much better now.

MawMaw gave us my coming-home dress and brought it with her and Grandfather when they flew to Dublin, Ireland to meet me.

Kendall in her bouncy chair and below is a picture of me wearing the dress, sitting in my old bouncy chair at 3 months old.

4 month portraits ...

We just got Kendall's 4 month professional portraits in ... so, here they are ... she is certainly a girl with many faces!

This one wearing her tutu and the one below it in her fancy little bloomers will be cropped down to 4x10 size (so you won't see so much black on the top and bottom) ...

We think her face says it ALL here ... "Are we done yet?"

4 months and 6 glorious hours ...

September 1 ... Kendall is now 4 months old ... it is hard to believe, I know! (She's 4 months, but her "corrected age" is 7 weeks old.)

She had her 4 month check-up, so here is some of her growth & development updates:
- weight 9 lbs 7 oz (which is the 45th percentile) and height 21 3/4 in (the 64th percentile) ...

she's moved from the 6th percentile at her 2 mo. check-up to the 30th percentile at her 3 mo. check-up to the 45th percentile at this 4 mo. check-up! We are just so thankful for all the growing God continues to do in Kendall's little body! She is now growing out of all her Newborn size clothing and moving into the 0-3 months size ... yeah!

- sleeping at night ... we got the okay to let her sleep through the night without waking her up for feedings ... yeah! Because of her low-weight, over the past few weeks the longest she's been able to sleep at night is 5 hours ... if she hasn't woken up to feed within 5 hours, I have to wake her up. So, now, she is allowed to sleep as long as she'd like ...

for her 1st night, she slept a total of 6 hours before she woke up for the next feeding! (Her pediatrician said not to be surprised if it takes her a while to sleep past 5 or 5 1/2 hours, so we thought 6 hours was pretty great for her 1st night!) Yeah, Kendall!

Kendall's development ... over the last few days, we have seen some major progress in Kendall's development! She is bouncing herself in her bouncy chair (and Cassie loves to lay by her when she's in her chair); She is smiling back at us (quite possibly the best thing ever!); She is watching and tracking us & toys with her eyes (so much fun!); and She is having less and less fussy/colicky times ... woo hoo! She is really changing and growing and we are having a blast with her!

We got her 4 month professional pictures taken on Friday, so I'll post the web link to those once we've got it ... stay tuned.

In the meantime, here are a few of Kendall over the last week or so ...

Bouncing herself in her bouncy chair

and of course, Cassie is near by ... wherever Kendall is, there you will find Cassie!

on the road again ...

all tuckered out from tummy time ... and look who is in the background, asleep as well ...

Now, especially for you non-dog-lovers, Cassie isn't allowed on Kendall's mat (or anything Kendall is wearing or using), but you can see from this angle that her nose has made it on the mat ... she just can't get close enough, apparently. Cassie is really good with Kendall and doesn't bother her or have to be right on her, but does need to be close to me and Kendall.

Miss Marvelous ...

Well, at least, we certainly think she is!
Here's Kendall (at 3 1/2 months ... a "corrected age" of 6 weeks) posing in her fabulous shirt from Aunt Ya-Ya ... Thanks Yulia!
