Just a quick post to say Happy 4th of July! We just got back from our vacation in Vancouver, BC and so we spent this 4th of July pretty low-key (not that we really did a lot, or anything at all last 4th of July either, as we'd just brought Kendall home from a 8 week stay at the NICU) ... but before last year, we used to do a lot on the 4th of July ... so hopefully, we'll get back to that next year!)
We got home yesterday evening ... Kendall was still feeling bad ... major congestion, sneezing, runny nose, deep coughing ... you could just tell in her eyes that she didn't feel good ... plus, she was fussy, wanted to be held & suck her thumb. We made it through the night and decided we needed to take her to Care Now urgent clinic (since our doctor's office wasn't open on Sunday, nor on Monday, due to the holiday) ... they diagnosed her with double ear infections and she's back on antibiotics for 10 days. Hopefully she'll start to feel better tomorrow and I'm following up with our pedi on Tuesday.
I drove Kendall (since she'd sleep in her car seat upright, which was better for her breathing) half-way to Abilene to meet my mom to pick up Cassie. We visited with my mom for a little bit ... Kendall showed off a little of her walking ... and we were back in the car for our trip home.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at home ... playing a little, cuddling & rocking Kendall a lot, doing laundry & unpacking ... trying to get out of vacation-mode & get back in the swing of things. I only took a couple of pictures of Kendall in her cute little 4th of July red, white & blue romper that her Auntie E had gotten for her ... a couple of pictures outside was all we could stand before being eaten up by those mean-o mosquitoes! But despite being sick, she wore her red, white & blue all day ... and looked pretty adorable in it, if I do say so myself!
After Kendall went to bed, Ash & I watched the fireworks from our front porch ... we figure this may be the last year we'll be able to do that as Kendall may be interested in the fireworks soon!
Just for a fun comparison ... here's Kendall last year on her 1st 4th of July ...
Happy 4th!
What a difference a year makes!!
