happy halloween!

Trick or Treat from the cutest little flower that you ever did see ...

or at least, we sure think so ... but we may be a little biased!

Kendall & I were sooooo happy to be getting out of the house & going to school on Thursday ... 4 days of sickness, little sleep, fever & crankiness was about all the both of us could stand!  At pre-school on Thursday, it was "Dress-Up Day" ... so all the kids wore their halloween costumes & we had a mini-carnival & party that afternoon.  Kendall wore her flower costume for part of the day ... she really doesn't enjoy wearing the head piece, which is the actual flower part ... so without it on, she was more like "a stem"!  (I bought this Children's Place costume for $7.50 at a consignment store last year ... it's a 12 months, but it was huge on her ... the snaps that fit in between her legs hung down past her knees, but she didn't seem to mind that part of the costume too much!)  Kendall's teacher, Miss Dee, gave her a pumpkin full of goodies for Kendall & her parents ... animal crackers, gold fish, puffs, yogurt melts & some candy ... she loved going through everything & eating some of the treats, too!

Today, Halloween, we got her dressed up in her costume again (this time she left it on much longer) and went to 4 of our neighbors' homes for Kendall's 1st trick or treat outing!  We visited our neighbors early in the evening, so we could experience trick or treating, but still be home in time to have others stop by our house, keep her bedtime schedule & watch Game 4 of the World Series!

trick or treating at the McMahon's ... Kristen &
Christopher and Terri all came to the door to see her

Since it was such a nice day outside, Kendall & I played on the front porch while Daddy mowed the grass ... this girl loooooves to watch him mow! She also enjoyed going through her tiny bucket of candy she collected and our give-away candy for the trick or treaters that were to come that evening ... she loved picking out each piece of candy, shaking it, ooooohing & ahhhhing over all of them & then putting them all back in the bucket ... I love that she enjoys cleaning up, too!

Despite our extreme disappointment that the Rangers lost Game 4 in the World Series (with the Giants leading the series 3-1), we had a great family weekend of togetherness!  Everything is just soooo much funner with Kendall around!  (Yes, I know "funner" is not a real word.)

Kendall collected several cute fall/halloween shirts for the season ... we were either given them or I bought them for dirt cheap at the JBF consignment sale.  Here are more pictures of our sweet little pumpkin over the past week or so ...

Just for grins ... since she has the same shirt on (different sizes), here is a picture of her last year ...

the Ridgell's halloween party

Tonight, we spent the evening at the Ridgell's home for their annual halloween party ... the party was a huge hit again this year with costumes for all, a yummy potluck, pumpkin decorating, an after-dark scavenger hunt, a candy-filled pinata, awesome friends ... and to top it off, Game 3 of the World Series at home in Rangers ballpark!  We had a fantastic time, to say the least!

Costumes are a requirement at this party ... so this year we decided to coordinate as a family ... and in sticking to our sports/athletics theme that seems to work well for us, we attended the party as "Texas Rangers Superfans!"  We each wore our Texas Rangers tshirts, had Rangers tattoos on our faces and brought our baseball gloves.  We only took 1 picture as a family, so here we are ...

A few more pictures from the fun family party ...

Ansley as "a green fairy" & Garrett as "a fireman"

the Railsback fam ... Chaz, Charlie & baby Caden

the Russell fam ... Corey as "Noah", Addie as
"a mouse" & Emma as "a leopard" ...
they came as Noah & animals 2 by 2, but Lila
got sick, so Julia stayed home with her so the girls
came as 1 by 1 ... we missed them!

the Carder fam ... Amy & Rick as "Little Red
Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf", Eva as
"Minnie Mouse" & Ella as "Albert Einstein"

our yummy potluck spread ... and cute halloween decor by Jamie!

decorating pumpkins ... Jillian, Garrett and Anna

these 2 little sweeties enjoyed eating dinner together & playing
together through out the night ... they are sweet little friends already!

checking out each other & the costumes ...
Emerson takes a few steps now, so they enjoyed
playing & standing up together.

cheering on the Rangers ... Little Miss found one of Jillian's pom-poms
so she put it to good use right away!

me & my little sweetie ... I truly cannot express how much I LOOOOVE this girl!

helloooooo Little Miss!  She found Chaz's Elvis
sunglasses & had to wear them!  She loves
sunglasses & says "eyes" when she sees them.

Then we were off to gather special treats of the Scavenger Hunt ... it was dark out, so the kids loved using their flashlights ... this was a really fun activity for all the kids!

Joe Don explaining the rules of the Scavenger
Hunt to all the kids ... they were all so excited!

all the Daddys

some of the kiddos ... this is always a fun & chaotic picture to try to capture!

Then it was pinata time! All the kids took a turn and then it was the Moms turn ... Amy, Jamie & I all went ... and the pinata came crashing down! Pinata Winner!

Andrew's turn

Kendall LOOOOVED watching the kids bat at the
pinata ... she was laughing out loud sooo hard!

Garrett's turn

Charlie's turn

Jillian's turn

Ansley's turn

Kendall's turn ... she was the last kid at bat, was
content to just continue holding her little glow-
stick she found on the hunt, but had fun trying
out the bat, too!  This was her 1st time to see a
pinata & her 1st time to use a bat.

Daddy gave her a little help at first, but she got the hang of it for
a few cute little swings of her own!

We did watch a little of Game 3 of the World Series during dinner. We paused the game to have the rest of the fun activities and finished watching it after the party was over ... it was worth it, as we witnessed Josh Hamilton (my favorite Ranger!) hit a home-run & Nelson Cruz hit a 3 score home-run ... giving the Rangers their 1st game win in the World Series! (I think dressing up as Super FANS was good luck ... ha!)
