ear tube surgery

Friday morning, we drove about an hour to Plano for Kendall's ear tube surgery ... we were to be there by 7:30am (which meant we needed to leave our house by 6:30am) for her 8:30am surgery time.  It might have been a bit of a drive for us, but it was worth it ... Cook Children's is ALL about the kids and that made everything that they have to do to assess, prep & preform on Kendall all that much easier!

playing with her new bag they gave us ...
this girl loooooves bags so this was great
entertainment while we waited our turn!

After the nurse got Kendall all assessed & prepped, Dr. Murphy, Kendall's ENT surgeon, came by to check on us & go over the surgery. Then it was Kendall's turn ... the Operating Room nurse came to take Kendall to the OR, after we each got a quick hug & kissed her good-bye ... I was losing it at that point! As we watched her carry Kendall down the hall & into the OR, our other nurse, came back to take us to another waiting room ... it was 8:22am.

Ash & I sat in the waiting room, just the 2 of us ... I texted my mom & 2 sisters that they had just taken her back, as Ash was dealing with an emergency phone call from his work. We were still praying together when Dr. Murray came through the door ... it was 8:34am ... saying that he was finished, she did great, and she was waking up & would be wheeled into our new room in just a minute, so we could see her. 12 minutes ... that was how long Kendall was gone from us ... it was practically over before it started!

I got to see the nurse wheel Kendall in from the OR ... she was silent, motionless, with Baby tucked perfectly under her arm ... but then she saw me as they wheeled her past me ... she opened her eyes a little wider & smiled. We took turns holding her & loving on her, as the drugs started to wear off & she drank, drank & drank some more ... she was one thirsty girl!

having just come out of surgery, still quite
drugged, snuggling with 3 of her favorite things:
her thumb, her bear "Baby" & her Daddy

Waiting to be discharged ... Snuggling with Mommy & reading
her current favorite book ... first 100 words

We were discharged & back on the road at 9:30am ... the entire process was 2 hours ... and we were heading home again!

Kendall was out during our drive home

sweet girl ... I love how she is hugging her bear while sleeping!

FOOD!  This girl was way-past hungry &
enjoyed eating, drinking, and sitting in Daddy's
lap as soon as we got home!

Since Kendall wasn't quite her normal busy self when we first got home,
Cassie had to come over to check on her ... don't worry, Huni,
Kendall is laughing in this picture as Cassie is "getting her"!

these 2 looooooove each other!

Within an hour of being home, Kendall was pretty much back to her same hiliarious, busy little self!  We spent the rest of the day just being together, enjoying Daddy being home from work on a Friday, ran a few errands & played with Kendall!
All in all, this was a successful surgery ... Kendall has already been eating more ... there was immediate balance improvement, since there is no more fluid in her ears ... and we know she can hear better, too. Kendall will have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Murray in 4 weeks to re-check her hearing & her ears, but we are all already happy we decided to have the tubes done!
