Today we had a busy fun family day.
We started off the morning with a pajama & donuts 4th birthday party for one of Kendall's besties, Ryllie ... it was at our indoor playscape at church and everyone had a blast! (And Kendall LOVED the donut & donut hole she ate! In the car on our drive to the party, she announced she would be eating a chocolate donut with sprinkles ... luckily for her, there were a few of those there, in cute mini-donut size. I'm not sure where she got that idea exactly but apparently she had thought about it. I believe this is her 3rd time to have a donut in her life! And she does enjoy them!)
The big birthday girl ... Happy 4th Birthday, Ryllie!
our awesome indoor playscape ... Kendall's absolute favorite place to play these days! She can't wait to have her birthday party here, too! (Just 5 more months to wait!)
Sweet Little Besties! This is Kendall's first little best friend ... each time they see each other, they run to hug! So sweet!
After an early nap, we left for Grapevine ... for an afternoon of more fun! We had planned on going to the Grapevine Mills Mall for a special movie showing of Disney's Beauty & the Beast (one of my all-time favorite movies growing up). It was just digitally restored & re-vamped into a 3D movie, but it was only in the theaters for 3 weeks ... and this was our only Saturday to go see it! We had a little time before our matinee time slot, so we stopped by the Sea Life Aquarium with our season passes. We finally saw Mr. Sharky ... Kendall's been wanting to take her picture with Mr. Sharky since our first visit, but we haven't seen him since then. Of course, since we saw him today, she wanted to get her picture with him ... but just as it was our turn she decided she did not want to get near him ... I guess we are not ready for Disney World yet!
After the aquarium, we walked over to the theater to get our movie tickets ... they changed their matinee times for Saturdays and our 3 tickets were going to be full price for a 4:30 showing ... $33. For our own historical sake, because I know in the future ticket prices will one day be much much higher than this and I will only be further outraged at it and wish then the prices would be more like the prices back in 2012, ... at this theater, adult tickets $12 each, child tickets $9. I also know that is probably pretty low in comparison to other parts of America, but still! Now I know this may sound crazy, but I hate spending money at the movies ... I love to go to the movies, but I hate to pay their ticket prices! For some reason, I just don't think it should cost $10 (and now, even more than that!) to see a movie ... per person! Luckily for me, Daddy hates it even more than me so when we realized another theater had another showing (that was still a matinee) for a true matinee price, we left Grapevine and headed there ... which was closer to our home anyway.
We were in a rush, but we made it to the movie on time ... and the best part ... it cost us $10 total! Now that's more like it! Adult manatee tickets $5 each and kids 2 & under are FREE! Hello, good deal! Daddy was so happy he even bought popcorn (which totally made Kendall's day) and we still saved money from our original cost at Grapevine. (But ... we (Kendall & Mommy) somehow knocked over our entire bag of popcorn only moments after getting it and the lady was so sweet to give us a new bag! I'm pretty sure Daddy was really happy about that ... and so was Kendall, as she was in tears at the sight of all that yummy popcorn on the floor, that she had been so looking forward to eating!) So, thank you Colleyville Cinema Grille ... for being more reasonably priced, for giving parents a financial break by not charging for kids 2 & under, and for keeping traditional normal matinee hours (movies before 6p), even on the weekends! You Rock! And that is why we visit you, when we get to go to the movies!
And we looooooved the movie ... since it's one of my all-time favs, we had it on DVD way before Kendall came along, so she had seen it a couple of times before. But the new restored version was even better ... and it being in a big theater, made it even better! We opted not to watch it in 3D ... we didn't think she would leave the glasses on ... maybe in a few more years we can try it. She loved the movie all the same!
And we ran into Ryllie & her mom Angela there at the movie ... they were there for another little girl's 4th birthday party ... same showing time. Isn't that a fun bday party idea?! I maybe using that one in the future ... depending on the movie selection at the time, but I thought that was a fun one!
All in all, it was a busy but fun-packed day as a family ... one of my favorite kinds of days to spend with these 2 loves! Although, I am thankful that tomorrow will be less busy family day.
