We just spent a few days with Kendall's Huni & GranGran visiting us ... and here are bits & pieces of our time together ...
Wednesday, June 2nd ... our 9th wedding anniversary ... Ash took the day off to spend the day with us (which was a nice middle-of-the-week treat for both me & Kendall!) ... and surprise his parents by coming with me & Kendall to pick them up at the airport. We had a 1 hour wait at the airport (as they & hundreds of other people had to get through US Customs), but Kendall did good during the wait and I was sooo glad Ash was there to help with her. It had been 3 months since they'd seen Kendall in person, so they were thrilled to see her and all the growing & developing she'd been doing! (When they saw Kendall last, she wasn't crawling yet ... and now, she's a turbo-speed crawler, pulls up to everything, cruises around quite well and will stand momentarily without holding on!)
Thursday we stayed around the house ... playing with Kendall! Huni treated me & herself to manicures & pedicures for our anniversaries (mine on the 2nd and her's on the 6th) ... while GranGran babysat Kendall ... and then once Ash got home from work, we all enjoyed a yummy dinner at Chapp's burgers!
Friday the weather outside was perfect for swimming, so we spent several hours in the pool ... Huni & I LOVE relaxing in the pool ... I could be there all day (if I didn't have any other responsibilities, of course!). Ash came home from work and we got ready for our little date night for our anniversary ... Huni & GranGran babysat Kendall for us and took some pictures of their time together ...
GranGran showing Kendall a game on his ipod touch ... he likes to start the grandkids out early! I'm afraid she might take after the Rogers side for all things technology ... so Ash is happy! |
Saturday they had an all-day presentation meeting at a local church and we got ready for & hosted our end-of-the-season soccer team swimming & pizza party (that I already blogged about in this post)! The party had just ended ... Kendall had just started napping and we had just jumped back in the pool, when Huni & GranGran arrived ... and they got in the pool, too. We met with Richard & Denise Baggett for dinner at Carino's.
Sunday, June 6th ... Huni & GranGran's 43rd wedding anniversary ... we went to RHCC for worship and out for lunch at Red Robin ... and then said our good-byes to Huni & GranGran, who were traveling to Lubbock for the week. (They'll be back for a quick 24hour stop-over, to spend the night with us on Friday & be taken to the airport to fly out to Portland, OR on Saturday.)
GranGran has been transferring their old home movies of Ashley & his siblings onto DVDs ... and although the quality is less than HD (ha!), I LOVE to watch them! (LOVE stuff like this ... pictures & video alike!) He brought us several DVDs that he's completed and it's been so fun to see Ashley & his twin brother Brandon, their younger brother Rhett and sister Amber all growing up! (Ashley & I met here in DFW after college, so I never really seen very many of his baby/younger pictures ... I seriously have 3 photos of him (one of him when he's 4, 8 and his senior football picture) ... since his parents moved to be missionaries in the Ukraine just before we got married, all the photo albums & home movies were all packed away by the time I got to Canada for the first time. So, during our trip to Canada this summer, one of the things I'm really excited about getting to do is looking through all the photo albums, now that Huni has been unpacking everything from storage into their condo ... I have been waiting for this for 10 years! Yippee!)
Great blog post with wonderful pictures of the family.. Sweet photos of the kid as well..
