NICU Reunion ... 2nd edition

Saturday we excitedly attended the 2nd annual Baylor Grapevine NICU Reunion!  I really was very excited when this postcard arrived in the mail a few weeks ago ... I immediately added the event to our calendar ... this is something we would not miss!  We had a great time at the last NICU Reunion ... which was about 18 months ago ... so we were really excited to see everyone again!

Little Miss Kendall is here & doing well because of God & His Mighty Work He has done in her ... and we are also so thankful for the nurses & doctors that God used to grow, heal & prevent further health issues while Kendall was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for 8 weeks!  We loooooove the staff at Baylor Grapevine & they will always hold a VERY special place in our hearts!

This year's reunion was held at the historic Nash Farm in Grapevine ... which is a fun (& educational) place to go ... and then they brought in some other really fun things for the kids & families, so it was a fun afternoon!  We arrived a bit late, due to Kendall's nap & Daddy at soccer, but we got there in plenty of time to do everything Kendall wanted to do!  They had bounce houses, a pony & sheep, a tractor-train ride, fun games, pizza & other fun food and drink ... and the NICU nurses & doctors!

We didn't take a ton of pictures, but we did get a few with some of the nurses & doctors ...
Nurse Gina
Tiffany (an account rep for Abbott, maker of Similac formula ...
which Kendall was on for 15 months ... Tiffany hooked us up a few times
with the speciality formula Kendall had to be on ... that was quite
a blessing!  Tiffany's husband works with Ashley ... and they have a
daughter who is 1 month younger than Kendall.)
Nurse Kim

Dr. Kaplar ... Kendall's Neonatal Specialist ... she is awe.some!  She immediately remembered us and was so sweet to Kendall.  She said she & Mark (another doctor there at Baylor) wonder about Kendall often, since she was such a "little one" and was there for quite some time.  Dr. Kaplar asked if I would be willing to come up to the NICU to talk with the moms that are there ... about our experience, about mommy/baby bonding, how we felt at that time, how things are different getting home & now (more normal) & getting through such a rough situation ... I said I would LOVE to!  So hopefully I'll have an update about that sometime soon.

Kendall even wanted Dr. Kaplar to hold her

We had a fun afternoon visiting with everyone ... can't wait until next year ... Kendall will be 3 then, oh dear!
