On Wednesday, Kendall officially became a little gymnast ... at the ripe old age of 20 months!
We got our city's recreational center's class schedule in the mail for their spring classes ... I'll admit I've looked through previous ones in the past, thinking about the day that Kendall will be able to take one of their little classes, but most of them require the kids be 2 years old.
Kendall is now old enough for the (FREE) Mommy & Me "Toddler Time" class at the Library each week on Mondays for 30 minutes ... where the children's librarian reads several books & has several activities for the kids to do, for a particular theme each week. We were able to go for the 1st time in December and she really enjoyed that. Now that the holidays are over, I'm hoping we'll be able to go more regularly.
I saw the Mommy & Me "Tot Tumbling" class for 16 months - 3 years in the gymnastics programs list ... and signed us up! Her class is 8 weeks long ... 30 minutes once a week ... for a low, low price of $22 ... I just couldn't pass it up!
I never took gymnastics, so I really wasn't sure what to expect of a class with this young of kids, but we were excited! I got her all bundled up (since we're actually having winter-like weather right now ... it was in the 20's in the morning of our class!) ... and with "Baby" in one hand and "Blanket" in the other ... we were off & ready to go!
It took us a little longer to get there then I'd anticipated ... and you know how much I hate to be late to something ... especially when it's on the 1st day! We got into the gym and all the other little kids & their Mommys were circled up and had already begun. Her gymnastics teacher, Ms. Tammy, is super sweet & really good with all the kids ... I'm hoping to get a picture of her next week!
During circle time, we did our stretches, played with a parachute, hopped on the tumbling floor mat ... and then we were off to the obstacle course and the uneven bars with Ms. Tammy. Kendall had such a great time! The 1st and 2nd somersault, she was a little unsure of, but that's about all it took ... I've even seen her try to do it all by herself after we came home & today as well, ha! She loved the obstacle course and giggled & squealed with delight nearly the entire time ... she was such a hoot! She is a bit small, so several of the obstacles were very challenging for her, due to her lack of leg length at this point, but she didn't let that stop her ... she just kept on trying ... she did so good!

She was having so much fun, she didn't want to go! She just kept saying and signing (at the same time) "more, more, more". She loved running around the big bouncy tumbling mat. I think she's going to like this gymnastics stuff! (We took one picture together ... she isn't too happy because we are about to leave & she wanted to stay and play!)
As we were getting all of our stuff together, the next little class of 3's & 4's (and no Mommys!) came in ... they were soooo adorable! We stayed to watch them for a few minutes ... Kendall's eyes were glued!
I think these will be a fun 8 weeks!
